Prognosis

Second full-length album from Iron Krill. While the version currently on Spotify/iTunes/Amazon/etc. is a 2017 remixed/remastered version, this still stands as one of my proudest achievements because I finally made something that had an element of uniqueness with the "symphonic" implementation.

Frozen

In August 2012, Iron Krill made its first venture into the world of performing live without a drummer. This would eventually help shape the future of my musical projects. To initiate this new era, a brand new song was created. Unfortunately, no one showed up to the concert, but that is besides the point.

A Greater Foundation

Iron Krill's cover of "A Greater Foundation" by As I Lay Dying.

This remains my most viewed video on YouTube aside from my "Upside Down Kingdom" remix. In hindsight I made a few mistakes with the mixing, and the vocals sound dull as a result, but I still like how technically accurate it turned out. I had tried way too hard to try and make each instrument and vocals match the As I Lay Dying sound, at the expense of making it sound worse than our regular sound because it's just an imitation (not to mention backfiring and sounding nothing like them once all mixed together).

Runes to My Memory

"We've been hearing some complaints lately that we're too much core, not enough metal. This next song is for you. You'll know why."

Iron Krill's cover of "Runes to My Memory" by Amon Amarth.

Diagnosis

The first full-length album from Iron Krill was quickly put together to ensure that a finished body of work from the band would be available in time for As I Lay Dying's album "Decas" to be released, knowing that the Iron Krill name would be listed on its iTunes version.

Ultimately, the remix failed to bring the flood of attention to the band I had hoped, but it still served as a catalyst, forcing me to finish this album in what may have otherwise been an indefinitely long period of stalling due to the challenges of college and dorm room life that made even recording difficult.

More importantly, though, "Diagnosis" served as the tipping point at which point I made Iron Krill the primary representation of my musical capacity, meaning that I no longer made "solo" songs (or albums) with the same level of seriousness. (In fact, I would not go on to create a solo song with vocals until 2018 with "New Abyss", released as a solo song rather than Iron Krill because of the different style as well as the stupidity involved in its background and conception)

I view the album with pride because I can look back on it slightly surprised with how well it turned out, even in production quality, again considering I self-released the album made entirely on my laptop when I was 19 and in college and working. That said, I ultimately view some of its songs as rather unimaginative metalcore relative to the uniqueness of "Prognosis" and its symphonic elements two years later. Its defining qualities are likely its odd guitar work such as the atypical (for metalcore) main/intro riff in the title track, the atonal guitar solos in Untold, Diagnosis and At the Last, and the sharp vocals throughout.

Revenge of the Moose

Solo instrumental album, similar to instrumental version of Iron Krill’s “Diagnosis” but with some of the mindless chugging taken out in some songs and with some other random songs in a different style.

Carrion

Cover of "Carrion" by Parkway Drive. Got surprisingly little attention considering it doesn't actually sound awful, but I suppose it could be seen more as a test to see whether I could make real metalcore sound as opposed to a truly enjoyable song to listen to.
